Updates on Jayhawks Rising Strategies Now Available

Dear Colleague, 

In March, campus leaders provided updates on each of the Jayhawks Rising strategies, and these are now available for you to explore in this progress report.  

The report is in response to the results of our Jayhawks Rising awareness survey earlier this year, which indicated a desire for greater transparency and more information on our institutional strategies. Thank you to all who provided valuable feedback to help us keep you more informed on our Lawrence and Edwards strategic plan. 

The Jayhawk Rising strategies were set by Objective Leaders during the annual leadership retreat in August 2023. The progress report includes brief mid-cycle summaries on advances for current strategies, such as:

  • The Plan-to-Pay calling campaign to encourage students to pay tuition and fees on time or develop a plan,
  • The Staff Summit on Student Experiences, which demonstrated the difficulty of navigating student financial services in an effort to reduce roadblocks,
  • Progress on undergraduate degree mapping endeavors,
  • Forming a constituent survey implementation team to address specific issues articulated through the COACHE faculty survey and the Docking Institute survey of staff,
  • Progress toward faculty hiring to address Research Rising aspirations,
  • Progress on establishing a structure to recognize and honor faculty achievement,
  • Efforts to develop a seamless system for innovation and entrepreneurship that supports campus constituents from all areas,
  • And many more. 

You can expect updated progress reports to be shared twice each year on the Jayhawks Rising website and via email. The strategies will be reviewed again when the Objective Leader team, which also includes Governance leaders, meets for the strategic planning retreat this August. Many strategies are multi-year commitments and will carry over.
